Tata Electronics, in collaboration with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), has initiated employee training programs for its upcoming $11 billion semiconductor fabrication facility in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat. This strategic venture aims to manufacture advanced chips, with the first production scheduled by 2026. The project underscores India’s commitment to becoming self-reliant in chip manufacturing under the “Make in India” initiative, creating thousands of high-tech jobs and advancing technological expertise in the country.
Tata Electronics Joins Forces with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor to Establish Fab in Dholera Special Investment Region
In a pioneering move, Tata Electronics has partnered with PSMC, a leading Taiwanese chip manufacturer, to set up a state-of-the-art semiconductor plant in Dholera, Gujarat. The facility will produce chips for a variety of applications, including power management, microcontrollers, and AI-driven technologies, with a production capacity of up to 50,000 wafers per month. The project highlights the growing importance of semiconductor manufacturing in India’s technology ecosystem and its role in supporting industries such as automotive, wireless communications, and high-performance computing. Tata Electronics has launched an intensive training program in Taiwan for its employees as part of preparations for the semiconductor fabrication unit at Dholera SIR. The training, conducted in collaboration with Powerchip Semiconductor, will equip Tata’s workforce with the specialized skills required for cutting-edge chip production. The program is a critical step in ensuring India’s self-sufficiency in semiconductor manufacturing, and multiple batches of employees are expected to travel to Taiwan for on-the-job training, with the first employees already in place.
